"I will not stop banging on about Lucy Werner and her Hype Yourself Community.. …it's the only newsletter I read EVERY TIME without fail."

Sophie Cross | Founder, Freelancer Magazine

Hiya! I'm Lucy Werner.

Author. Hypewoman. Recovering Agency Owner.

A few years ago, I moved from London to the South of France, closed my PR agency, and became a co-founder of three children. At the same time, I was building a new chapter of my work as a writer, teacher, and full-time newsletter human.

Then, just to keep things interesting, Substack deleted my publication. Two years of posts. Gone. A proper casual nightmare.

And so I did what so many self-employed people are doing, too.

I started again.

Embracing the general chaos of trying to build something meaningful while life keeps on life-ing.

The Hype is where I share practical PR strategy, honest stories, pitch opportunities, and my real-time reality of rebuilding a creative business from rural France, with three children, learning a new language, and zero interest in becoming a full-time influencer.

What It Means to 'Hype Yourself'

Look. After losing my Substack, I did think about renaming this whole thing. Because hype can sound a bit… well… like hype.

But that's never what I've meant by it. To me, "hype yourself" is about finding the creativity and confidence to talk about your work in a way that opens doors. And ask for the work you actually want.

This isn't about vanity metrics or one-off wins.

You don't have to sell your soul or lose your magic. You don't have to wince or be cringe.

You can just be clearer, braver, and more like you. I'll show you how.

Questions

I don't have a clear idea of the product, service or type of work I want to do. Can I still join?

Ok, my advice – sign up free to The Hype. And when you've got more clarity on your work – upgrade to paid and get the next level of expertise, templates and classes to get your work out there.

Will joining The Hype sky-rocket my business to infinity and beyond?

Well, no. This is not a silver bullet for sales. The Hype is perfect for you if you want to have a go, build momentum, get accountability and feel confident about getting your work out there in ways that feel good for you.

Can I just join for a month?

Technically, you could but why would you? When I worked 1:1 with PR clients, it was always for a 3-6 month minimum – there really is only so much you can do in a month, even for PR pros with 20+ years experience like me! And that's why I'm always encouraging people to come on board for a year to get the most out of their subscription – some readers have been with me for longer!

How can I gift someone a paid subscription?

Love that you've asked and love it even more that you want to do this for someone else.

You can absolutely gift someone an annual subscription – drop me a note to get it sorted.
