💌 📸 Live class replay: Love Letters with Judy Andrews

Hiya 👋🏼,

I deliberately wanted this months live class to be different from our usual visibility classes.

Rather than teaching how to hype yourself, it explores the mindset that makes hyping yourself possible.

We spend so much time talking about pitching ourselves, raising our profile and getting our work seen.

And yet, I know, because I've asked many of you that actually what stops us hyping ourselves (outside of time) is often self-confidence, imposter syndrome and other ways we speak to ourselves.

I invited self-belief mentor and long-time paid reader Judy Andrews to guide us through a reflective workshop designed to help us swap self-criticism for self-compassion.

I'm not hosting a live class for August as I'm immersing myself with my mini-people but there are some great ones to catch up with in the archive if you get time. I've particularly loved the recent 'How to Escape Social Media' and 'Using Pinterest for Your Small Business' to get me thinking outside of the usual ways I would promote myself.

Watch all archive classes here, reserved for paid readers but if you are a free reader, I do offer you my pitch perfect class here.

See you in your inbox on Sunday 😘

Lucy x

CATCH THE REPLAY TO LEARN:

  • Why self-belief isn't built through positive thinking alone, but through small daily acts of self-compassion.
  • A simple journaling check-in that helps you understand what you really need.
  • Why it's often easier to be kind to other people than ourselves (and how to change that).
  • A practical framework for writing yourself a compassionate letter you'll want to keep.
  • How forgiveness can help you stop carrying old stories that no longer serve you.
  • Creative prompts to help you find kinder words when your inner critic gets loud.

TOP TAKEAWAYS

Start by noticing, not fixing

Before trying to solve anything, Judy encouraged us to simply notice how we're feeling. A one-word check-in or a few minutes of journaling can reveal far more than we expect when we give ourselves permission to pause.

We speak to ourselves differently than we speak to everyone else

One of the biggest themes of the session was recognising the gap between the compassion we naturally offer friends and the criticism we direct at ourselves. Changing that inner voice takes practice, but it starts with awareness.

Distance can make self-kindness easier

Rather than writing directly to ourselves, Judy invited us to write in the third person. That small shift helps us to access encouragement and compassion that felt difficult when writing "to me."

Forgiveness creates space

Many of us carry around old decisions, mistakes or regrets. Judy reminded us that we made those choices with the information we had at the time. Letting go isn't about pretending they didn't happen but making room to move forwards.

Your words matter

Whether you're writing a journal, borrowing a favourite quote or even creating blackout poetry from magazine pages, the language you surround yourself with shapes how you think. Choosing kinder words is a practice.

Self-belief grows through repetition

Confidence isn't built in one workshop. It's built through small moments of checking in with yourself, celebrating your strengths, offering yourself grace and choosing to believe your own voice a little more each day.
